How Therapy Works

Therapy is structured, collaborative, and focused on measurable change. We identify the patterns maintaining anxiety or depression, build targeted skills, and practice new responses between sessions.

01

Clarify the Pattern

We identify the thoughts, behaviors, and avoidance patterns that are maintaining distress. This creates a clear treatment target.

02

Build Targeted Skills

Using ERP, CBT, and ACT, you learn practical tools to interrupt compulsions, reduce avoidance, and respond differently to anxiety.

03

Practice and Strengthen

New behaviors are practiced gradually and consistently, building confidence and measurable progress over time.

The Approach

Treatment is grounded in evidence-based methods. We use ERP, CBT, and ACT in a flexible, integrated format tailored to your patterns and goals.

Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP)

The gold-standard treatment for OCD and many anxiety disorders. ERP reduces fear by gradually confronting triggers without engaging in compulsions or avoidance.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Identifies distorted thinking patterns and builds practical strategies to respond differently to anxious or self-critical thoughts.

Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Helps you change your relationship to uncomfortable thoughts and feelings while taking action aligned with what matters to you.

How to Get Started

Starting therapy should feel straightforward. Here is what the process looks like.

You do not need everything figured out before reaching out. If you are motivated to feel better, we can work with that. The consultation call is practical. You can ask questions about pacing, fit, and what therapy would look like for your specific concerns.

01. Schedule a Consultation

A brief call to discuss what is bringing you in and whether we are a good fit.

02. Intake and assessment

We clarify symptoms, goals, and patterns in more depth and decide what to focus on first.

03. Begin structured therapy

We build a tailored plan and start practicing skills and exposures at a manageable pace.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. I provide Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for adults with OCD in Rockville Centre and via telehealth throughout New York. ERP is the gold-standard treatment for OCD and is a central focus of my practice.

Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) is an evidence-based treatment for OCD. Rather than only discussing fears, we gradually practice facing triggers while reducing compulsive responses. Treatment is structured, goal-oriented, and measurable.

While I specialize in OCD and related anxiety disorders, I also treat panic disorder, social anxiety, health anxiety, perfectionism, and depression. Many clients come in for OCD and address additional anxiety or mood symptoms as part of treatment.

Length of treatment depends on symptom severity and goals. ERP is often structured and time-limited compared to open-ended talk therapy. We discuss a clear treatment plan early in the process.
